Bike Lanes In
Anyone else notice the beautiful new bike lanes down on sixteenth street north of downtown?

yup i saw it friday night nice
YES, JUST THIS MORNING! NOW WE JUST NEED MORE OF THEM!
Whee! I rode the 16th Street bike lane on 16th out of downtown to Burt today.
Just before the lane started at Chicago, I felt a semi with trailer inching up behind me. I felt liberated knowing that I'd immediately take my lane and he'd take his.
Accelerating away from the light, I had the advantage for a couple of blocks. He then caught up to me and lumbered on past. Then up ahead, a barricade covering an unfinished spot in the road put him into my lane (the bike lane). Be careful out there, folks, as they aren't quite done yet, and people also may not quite know what they are.
I turned left and continued up Burt, riding that really long hill to 40th for the first time.... and on my new single speed at that. Sheesh. It felt good when I got to the top, though.
I was thinking of taking some photos and possibly making a (really short) demo video of the lane tomorrow. Anyone want to join me and be a biker model?
Some pics and a video here.
